General Manager Report

May, 2019....

I am hearing good things about the performance of our new General Manager. Some on the Board and others may not like the honesty of providing information and his knowledge of how things should be done.  He faces the challenge of the status quo who want to control everything. A change in Board members will greatly improve his chances for success. We wish him well.

Click once or twice for a larger read of the report....

I have been at both board meetings with the new manager. At both the board, all of them, were respectful and he was treated the same as they. To say that anyone elected would make the working dynamic better is bias. No one can say for sure and there is yet proof that any of the current Trustees have treated him unfairly.

I agree (2:45 PM) that what could have been a totally positive lead-in to this topic was immediately slanted to slam some of the Board. In addition the yearly refrain of new Board members of a certain type may or will finally right the ship. Of course that we be if the ship is rerouted to the direction sought by those who back them. We all seem to want the bigger half of the candy bar.

Board members have earned everything they get. This is the worst example of a not for profit organization I have seen in dealing with non profs for over 50 years.

Quit your elitist crap! It's how we got in this mess in the first place.

So long as members have no authority to approve or reject covenant changes, and the BOT refuses to eliminate the Tree Policy, this Board serves a minority of owners, largely G St. and J Place interests.

The Surf-In-Sider is the mouthpiece of the BOT president, and no effort is made to offer balanced comments on issues that may be controversial. The Board either passively or actively approved the false statement "the State of the Community" last November, and have stonewalled the membership as to the REAL state of the community.

Some people can settle only for as much of the "candy bar" as they want, and that's where Surfside is at. If the BOT & Comm. chairs feel disrespected, correct these dynamics. Demonstrate to the community that the HOA respects fully the rights of ALL members. Transparency is a State requirement, but as such is easily ignored by a biased Board.

10:25 is making incorrect assumptions again. We and many of our neighbors who are affected by the tree covenants do not object to the covenants even though some revision could result in more sensible tree care throughout the community. We do object to the tree restrictions being enforced via complaints instead of in a fair and comprehensive manner.

The actions and words to divide our membership does not help anyone. Negotiated problem solving would better serve the association.

The blog has become the mouthpiece of a minority or members while the publications edited by the board serve as the mouthpiece for the board members. What is truly needed is a place and publication(s) that allow a free and fair exchange of documented information. A realistically informed membership would likely result in more members casting a knowledgeable vote.

Here's an idea: an acquaintance of mine lives in a HOA community (a lot smaller than ours), every few years there is an inspection of all the members lots/homes to make sure they comply with the convents. Each member is then given a report of the inspections detailing any infraction they might have and then given time to fix the issue and also given assistance of how to fix or who can fix etc.

The person i'm referring to feels it's more of a friendly thing and the community seems to help out those that need assistance. I'm sure this is not for everyone and SHOA is multiple times larger than the HOA that I was describing. but?

I agree that a place is needed for a place and publications that allow a free and fair exchange of documented information. It should also allow comments, questions and answers. At present, even flawed as it is, the blog is the only venue that provides any degree of what is desired and needed. There is nothing more that I would like, then to be able to retire this blog. Until there is an informative source in place, it will continue.

Retire this blog. It is biased and useless to achieve good results for our association as it is. A takeover by a few lunatics is not a good thing for any HOA.

Another deletion simply proves the point that the blog host is running a biased conversation to achieve his own goals rather than truly serving the association.

How about retiring YOU from the blog? The only source of honest information, and you want it gone. What Board member or lackey
thereof are you?

The organization you so vehemently support operates in illegal, subversive manners, and you support that. Had your mental health checked lately?

George simply isn't serving YOUR goals, of keeping control of this Association, hoodwinking the membership and serving only themselves.

You really have no shame.

2:10 Go soak your head. Our blog host deserves a world of credit for the information we have discovered on his site. Keep up the good work George!

Someone may want to enlighten our new General Manager. It is not Asphaltic pipe what ever that is, it is Asbestos pipe.

Thank you, Bill Neal

Asphaltic pipe ? Did we hire Donald Trump to be our new GM?

More like Hillary!

2:10.... The Blog does not "try to achieve results for the Assoc.". It is a "chatroom" or open conversation that runs the gamut of rational discussion and varied points of view to rude disrespectful comments that are often deleted by the host. If your comment is deleted, it is intentionally disrespectful and offers no real point of view beyond insults.
