Sunset Sands HOA

This is what we should look like...

This HOA is located on Loomis Lake South of Ocean Park.
The per lot fees are 125.00 a year.  This does not include water or garbage.

They have a beautiful club house and covered barbeque area, park, trails, boat launch and playground area.

Click on the link below to see all about it and lots of pictures.
They certainly put us to shame. Below this entrance sign picture below, is a brief description from their web site.

Sunset Sands is a private community located on
the Long Beach Peninsula in the southwest
corner of Washington State.

Association members in good standing have
access to the Clubhouse, bathrooms & showers,
playground, BBQ, and Loomis Lake.
Boats are
privately owned.  Please do not use.

Ok, so move there.

Unlike you I searched the peninsula and decided on here and am happy with my choice. Sorry for you that you don't feel that way.

I knew that was coming but I resisted.

This HOA is an entirely different type of community, so of course the dues are low. The Lake is nice in its' own way, but it isn't the Ocean or the beach. For some, I'm sure it fits their needs and serves as a great get-away for many. Not better, just less expensive and on a Lake.

I think we can learn a few things from Sunset sands. They refer to them selves as a "community" yet they exist and operate under the same RCW's as we do. We could greatly improve our community in appearance and tone by following their example. They are essentially paying 125.00 a year for maintenance of their common property and one part time employee. I would say, they are getting a lot of bang for their buck.

We have chosen to have many services like the compactor, or own water service, several unused parks and a deputy sheriff, and a fortress on H street. These cost money to maintain.

The smaller home size is a plus, but I love Surfside's other amenities and that comes with a cost.

Good economic alternative for those that can't handle our Covenants.

Thanks George, for the information.

Have we? I do not recall having a vote on any services. They are added by the BOT, with or without our approval.

Notice in the paper that a number of folks in Surfside, including a member of the Board, are identifying themselves as living in Oysterville instead of Ocean Park. Snob appeal? Can’t trust someone who doesn’t even identify with the community they are supposed to be governing.

I can see why George would like it there since being next to a lake it is like his property. I feel otherwise. I want to be by the ocean, where within a short distance I can be on the beach. To each their own, but one thing I will say I have never woke up here feeling shameful of our area.

But since this perfect place has been brought up, has anyone gone and read the site?. I draw your attention to their Arch Committee. Not only do they have to approve plans for building like our HOA, they periodically inspect for violations and take appropriate action when violations are discovered. That is something I can agree with. So yeah, let's try to be more like them.

Really? Now people are complaining about addresses. Just when I thought I've read it all......

Who cares if it’s surfside or oysterville, it’s still the Long Beach peninsula, get over the “I live here crap”

Is there a noise ordinance in sunset sands? Spence moving here our neighbor plays loud music daily.
