I have created (with lots of help) this blog site SURFSIDE CHAT.
I am the host of this blog site. I saw a need for a place that members could share information and make comments. I strive to provide information about our organization that is not readily available elsewhere.
I have lived at 1302 324th Place in Surfside for over 15 years. I am widowed and retired from 30 years in retail management. (hardware & garden store) I moved here from Clark County in Washington. I was born and raised at Lacamas Lake in Camas Washington. As a youngster, many trips were made to the beach to dig clams. Over 45 years ago I lived in Sea View and Ocean Park for a brief time. During that time I worked in the oyster industry. I witnessed the initial construction of Surfside.
I love living in Surfside and especially all the nice people here. I have been an active member of the association working to maintain and improve Surfside for all members. My past Surfside activities include; Community Relations Committee, Secretary on Water/Field Services Committee and Chairperson of the Land & Buildings Committee. I designed the landscaping and parking at Twin Lakes Cabana. At the request of a past Board President I formulated the concept and design for the Veterans Park at 306th and I street with the flag and memorial plaque. Working with the previous General Manager I was able to have cross walks installed on I Street. I am also the founder and chairperson of the Neighborhood Watch program in Surfside. Working with the county, I was able to get additional shoulder white paint stripes along the streets from J Place to the compactor.
I was appointed and elected to the Surfside Board in 2010 and 2011. Surfside has been a big part of my life and I have enjoyed being able to contribute what I could. I take many pictures of Surfside events which are posted on this site and in the Weekender.

George I just wanted to let you know that as of the middle of this month the foreclosure is averted. I am still selling and getting out of HISHOA(Hell In Surfside Homeowners Association). I am however while packing up going to become very involved in changing some of the state laws involving HOA's. I am also going to help you with your recording issues with them. I will be calling you to talk about this because I need your help with information.
