I like to know if I could build a building at the RV storage area for my RV, if I paid for it? Putting my RV in the storage area uncovered weathers it too much and is no different than leaving it on my lot. I'd like better protection, when in storage.

I doubt they would let you build something on the HOA property

Why couldn't it be an assigned storage spot for my lot forevermore? Whoever the future owner of my lot would have a covered spot in the storage area, for when not in use. Maintenance would be required by the current owner of the lot.

Currently, I can't build an RV protection on my lot. I can't leave my RV on my lot all year. So I have no choice but to move it to protect my investment and because the covenants requires it.

What skin is off of anyone's nose if I build some protection at the storage lot?

Good luck with that lol

1:50 - you are one of the reasons why RV'rs are frequently looked down on in this area. You come in here with predetermined ideas of how you can use and store your RV and then whine when you find out that the covenants will not allow it. SS should never let someone build a one off covered area in a SS run facility - too many issues involved including; insurance, maintenance (as you pointed out), ownership, and others.

Why don't you just move your RV during the Winter to another COVERED storage facility outside of SS? oh, I know, the cost is too high! You have a good deal as it is and you know it.

That reminds me, I think we should increase the storage costs to help offset dues, but then that's a whole other contentious topic for George to add to the blog.

For your information I do store outside of SS at a covered facility. I'm not sure how my request became whining. I'm quite aware there would be an increase in rental fees. Why do you have a problem, if I paid for construction?

Unless, the stories are true and SS doesn't want RVs.

You can't build on land you don't own...and the sites in the storage area are nothing more than an long parking space. What makes you think you can fit any kind of structure in your site? Go buy a RV tarp to cover your rig in storage.

Tarps are a bad idea, condensation does just as much damage, just face the fact that if u have an rv in surfside n don’t store indoors, it’s gunna rot real quik.

I've read that our HOA was considering buying the two acres behind the storage lot. I propose that some covered slips be built, with increase in payment, for RV storage in the new area.

Funding can come from current RV users so as not to impact everyone else.

When you spend thousands and thousands on an investment you want to protect that investment.

Unfortunately the two acres are mostly wet lands and swamp. Would be all kinds of hoops to jump through and expense of land filling. It appears that there will be no change in RV storage at this time until there are members willing to put in the time and energy against a Board, that for the most part, see RV'ers as a liability rather than an asset. The carbon treatment plant and AC pipe with disposal charges and fines, is a financial drain not supported by a budget of member funds. Maybe in the future something can be done in the way of covered storage. I agree that it is needed and the users would have to bare the cost of building and operation. The time has to be right, and this is not the time. You can mostly thank the Board for the mess we are in.

George, any idea of the $$ we are looking at??

Around 20,000 for the land.
Clean up and fines, around 50,000

11:03 you must not realize how you sound. So pleased with your righteous snotty attitude that it broadcasts what a SAD individual you are. Lumping people you don't know into categories based on your concept of what other people think. You must live in a closet.

You are in a dream.

I heard an RV was broken into recently....also, some member left their key in lock, went back to retrieve and it was gone. So, does HOA plan to change locks ASAP?

Just an observation as I drive around Surfside. I notice that RV lots which have a storage shed tend to have better cared for lots. I think it may be because they have a storage space for a lawn mower and other maintenance tools. Just my observation.

Whatever happened with the surplus funds and upgrades to the RV storage area? Were the electrical repairs done? I haven't heard anything about the storage area in a long time.

Anonymous said...

Appreciate your need. When you are done....you leave the upkeep to the rest of us. You put the liability cost on the rest of us. Then their is title considerations on who owns what. There are covered parking businesses in Ocean Park and LB. How come you cannot just rent one?

Bet ya didn't know this....

Boats may be stored in the RV Storage Area on a space available only option. These spaces shall be vacated when needed to store valid RV’s as defined in this policy. Boats shall maintain current registration and licensing.

Frankly, because the majority of the board really doesnt give a damn about you.

If you own a house in surfside, can you have your RV stored out in the open during the winter months on your property?
Asking because there are two houses on 357th who plan to leave their RV in their driveway or next to their house

george said...

Yes, in most, but not all areas East of the ridge. 357th is an area where they must be removed during the winter months, unless they are located in a storage type building. Several are in this area. It is all written in our covenants. A quick call to the office will give you the answer to a specific address or area.
