Guess my write in votes didn’t count!

Ronda Fern
Joanne McMurphy

How many other ballots weren’t counted?

If your ballot contained more than 3 votes, including write in's, it would be invalid.

George Miller said...

There can be a number of reasons why a ballot is not counted. You must be a member in "good standing" (dues and assessments paid up to date) A write in must also meet those requirements. You can only vote for a total of three (3) The ballot has to be received on the time deadline. It must be signed.

The DECC (Janet Cory (Designated Elections Committee Chair) has been provided a listing of the members in good standing, by the office. She registers the vote count with Pacific County. She will deliver the total vote packet to Surfside, probably today or next few.

It is REQUIRED that the Board Secretary Certify the results and include a statement with the packet that he has certified the election and the results. This packet that includes the ballots is sealed and kept in a secure location forever. When I was Board Secretary, I followed the correct proceedure. Kurt Olds is the current Board Secretary.

If you feel, for some reason, that your vote was not counted, You can inquire to Kurt Olds, for a review and explanation. This does pose a risk of other eyes seeing your ballot. If your vote would not make a difference in the outcome, you might consider letting it go.

I will say from experience, that Janet Cory is 100% honest. Yes, there can be errors during the process by you, the office in provided information or the count it's self. We saw a large % increase in voting by mail without a proxy needed. I expect that if we went to electronic voting , we would see a much larger vote and less errors of any kind.

All requirements were met by me! And I feel pretty sure about my 2 write ins!

Yes George, that is the answer! Just let it go!

Even though I wasn't registered as a candidate, I appreciate those who wrote me in, and had the confidence that I would be a worthy trustee. I may have interest in the coming years, but not being appointed after getting the most votes showed the narrow-mindedness of the majority on the BOT.

They insist on controlling the dialogue, and refuse to consider new voices that suggest new approaches. The "new" candidates made a vow to tow the line on the status-quo. They have impressive credentials, but are fine with the attitude held by the seated Trustees, that non-compliance is rampant and enforcement must be swift and sure. Nonsense.

Interesting. Mr. Cox is once again in line to be appointed to the board, should a vacancy occur. I would support him in accepting the appointment shooed it occur. We may get lucky and Mr. Clancy sell his home and pole barn. One of the newly elected may resign after they become aware of the corrupt board. They have probably seen that already with the fake election of board executives. I urge Mr. Cox to leave the door open. He is exactly the type of board member that we need.

@12:09 your definition of luck to me would be bad luck.

Anonymous said...

Please no! Cox would be a terrible trustee. He spreads speculative information. Just ask Annette, for one.

Anonymous said...

There is no way that you can say with certainty that Williams would not have been elected if there was another candidate. That is just wishful thinking on your part.

Dominion strikes again,lol

You sound like Peg Olds who hounds me on the blog. I have no problem stating what I know for a fact, regardless of potential complaints and accusations from board members. If i am speculating about something, I SAY so. You fear the truth, and please, this constant hand-wringing over critical words of Annette's role on the Board!! I've only mentioned her name a couple of times, and the endless complaining in her defense is just ridiculous. I've have no particular axe to grind. She has supported intensifying Tree related enforcement, and most of the agenda the Board has embraced that I have objections/differences of opinion about. As a member I have a right to my opinion about HOA policy, and it is NOT personal. I only comment as myself on the bog, and haven't written anything anonymously in a couple of years.Once I ran for Trustee, I vowed only to sign my comments. I've got nothing to hide. I don't hold grudges and am willing to work with anyone who is respectful of me.

Cox you are suffering from a massive brain fart! And your memory of events again don’t add up! Give it a rest about your sob story and accusations! You would make a lousy trustee!

Steve Cox said...

Obviously no one cares about the fact that I voted for Dan Neptune and wrote in 2 other non listed people on the ballot.
Those 2 people did not in the posted results receive a vote!

I was basically told to just let it go, how many other people voted and just need to let it go????

I am sorry George but your response is not acceptable, either stand behind or go away.

How many votes were not counted, i do not trust anything this BOT & HOA try to push past us the members!

I see there is another $20,000 up for grabs from the state, better jump on it Surfside. You can screw some more OP businesses out of the money and help to close them down!

With a 1.8 million dollar budget we need that extra 20k, yea like we all need another whole in our $SS.

George Miller said...

For those who did not see their write in candidates listed. I checked on these and as suspected by me, there were ballot errors. They included boxes not checked and over 3 votes cast. One error that was corrected was a write in for Joanne that was listed as Ron. It was corrected.

I hear you! I hear Rudd Turner is very excited about getting more money we aren't qualified for from the American taxpayer.
I bet he is getting a bonus for getting this money based on fraud.

Anonymous said...

The new board members need to pay attention to this. Turner acts the same ways as Williams and Clancy. They take actions without the approval of the full board. There should be a resolution for applying for these funds. I think most of the board would reject seeking these funds. Turner has no qualifications for the position he holds.

Anonymous said...

Pretty much all trustees, past and present, don't have qualifications for some what is asked of them.

Luckily for you 1:23 no qualifications are needed for giving your opinion on a message board.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 1:23. There was no approval by the board until after the loan was applied for and received. It’s all in the April meeting tape. Look and see if you don’t believe. By the way it was discussed I kinda got out of it that Reber was behind it all!

Anonymous said...

Poor old Reber. He now gets the blame for everything. Maybe he was not so bad after all. He got paid off to keep his mouth shut. Maybe Turner is ok, but he mumbles in a monotone and you can't understand a word he says and maybe that is a good thing. I am so fed up with this bunch of clowns, think I will go out and kill a tree.

Notice to JoAnne. an others. You can put up your Christmas tree lights. Tis the season to be jolly.

@December 2, 2020 at 7:29 PM- I normally abhor the comments here and don't fully agree with total Reber innocence, however, sativa has kicked in and you give this old codger a chuckle. Stay cool and plucky headed......peace out

Does anyone really have any confidence that this organization can run a fair election?

Steve Cox said...

I think that votes are handled fairly and accurately counted. Getting rid of proxy voting is helpful. There's always going to be a mathematical element of error. In this case it really is most likely something overlooked by the voter, or an office error in member voting status. That's my take on it. There wasn' t really anything at stake to justify any outright cheating or mishandling.

From the weekender as stated by Mr Turner: "COVID-19 expenses incurred by SHOA totaled $18,710.54 as of July 31."

They will say or do anything to justify their actions. This is total BS! If Mr Turner had any balls he would ITEMIZE these so called COVID expenses. Sorry, gotta throw the BS flag on this.

Fake News and fake record keeping books. He can tell it to the Feds when they come to check the books. I hope someone has reported this. The Feds have to check all complaints. His ass belongs in jail.

Anonymous said...

Whst a fraud! They lie through their teeth! Those aren't the expenses the help is intended for fraudsters!

Anonymous said...

I hope at some point people will stop using the Trump rhetoric. But I doubt it.

And now just like in the past, this "fed" talk is just that, talk. Still waiting for Elliot Ness to show up to lock up the board like some were saying with the asbestos issue.

Anonymous said...

"And now" just like in the past, the board continues to break the laws because they have gotten away with it before. A slap on the hand and a minor fine has taught them nothing. You hope it will be just talk, but the members are tired of it and ashamed of the boatd and some committee behavior. "When we purchased here" we did not sign up for or agree to a corrupt community. We did not sign up for harassment and unfair treatment and selected enforcement. I hope the members do complain to the "feds". It is simple to do. Iy can be done with just a few clicks on line. Be patient on your waiting" It will come
Mumbler bungler should have budgeted more member money for legal expenses, as he will need it.

Anonymous said...

Agree completely anonymous 8:20! It’s not the probability that it was illegal to take that money, but the fact that we are embarrassed and ashamed we did! With the bank account we have there was n need for $10,000 to use for COVID expenses. The computer system should have been updated long before this and any employee expenses should have just come out of already budgeted money for that particular item. Yes, we need an itemized statement as to where that money was spent! Just because it was there, doesn’t mean entities like us should apply and receive said money
