Like how lighting presented as a done deal? Going Is a waste of time, been there done that in past concerning lot less restrictive changes. They dont care or listen, and very rude. The only chance we have is someone with some money and a good lawyer, or EPA fining us into nonexistance.
Totally agree, you can have 100 members attend to argue against and the board will still approve. This has been done deal from the start. A waste of time is correct.
Perhaps you might change your mind if you knew the status of our Sheriffs patrol after 1 February. Those who rely on it for security might want lighting instead.
This lighting change still allows you to have exterior lights. The lights are supposed to be shielded downward, less than a certain wattage, and not much more restrictive than that.
I bet there will be no change in the home burglary rate in Surfside after the lighting covenant change.
Just because the Sheriff is leaving, the Trustees are going to listen to us and allow us to vote on amendments?
Our deputy works 8 out of twenty four, five days a week. Mostly outside of surfside proper. No big loss. Most times i have seen neighbors call the sheriff, took several hours for a response n usually not travis.
9:48 - This was a meeting held specifically to hear member opinions about the proposed covenant change. There was a strong response to the new proposal, and about 80 to a 100 attended the meeting. The BOT indicated that they heard the voices of dissatisfaction and opposition. It also seems this may be left undecided until the Annual Meeting.
There really isn't anything more that concerned members should expect beyond this outcome. We will see how it all works out. There is no award given to members who refuse to participate, and/or predict failure and great disappointment. If you are right, you happened to guess correctly, so give yourself a cookie. As with any issue, the outcome is not easy to predict.

Exactly. I'd rather go to the dentist. At least I actually get something out of that.

As I said in a previous comment on this blog.
You will get your 30 seconds if you attend the meeting, the BOT will snub their nose at the residents and pass the new covenant.
It appears it already has!
Time for the BOT to go and new people to get elected that actually care about the whole Surfside community, not just their own agendas.
Same in most all HOA’s but there comes a time of member uprising.

3:19 How will our Sheriffs patrol change after February 1?

You can bet everybody telling you not to go to the meeting are J placers. So show up and defend this ridiculous covenant change.
If the board doesn't approve this will you all come back and apologize for all the insults and jumping to conclusions?
Short answer, no, right?
Not at all!
Since we, members, don't get authority to vote on amendments, not at all.
This is all we have.
By the way 01/17 9:48 PM, have you ever called a Special Meeting?

The outcome anywhere else would be self evident. It's not wanted.
