County Request For Records

Copy of reply...

Even a reply of no record can be informative.
I requested a copy of the permit issued for the building of anything in the well field, such as the Carbon Treatment Plant, building and flush pond.  Surfside records indicate the building permit number as listed.  The County is precise in their response.  I have requested other records also.

This indicates that the association did apply for a building permit, but it has not yet been approved. The association did pay the filing fee and it has the number indicated on the request.  I have been told that the permit will not be issued until a  wet lands study of the building site is completed.  Records indicate payment for that study as required.,  This all has giant implications.  As we know, there has already been a ten thousand dollar fine for not obtaining the building permit before construction.  The worst scenario would be the requirement to remove the CTP plant from the present location.

It is not difficult to obtain records from the County.  You have to first register, then file the request. You can request more requests then, without a new register.  The County web site, under records request. takes you through the process step by step.  They replied in just a few days.

There is no charge for the records in electronic form. There might be a charge for a paper or disc. copy, I don';t know.  (A good example for Surfside in providing information?)

This is a valid reason to dissolve the HOA. The HOA not following their own CC&RS. Good work. I have a copy now too. Thanks for the important information.

Hopefully this will be explained further in the next Board Meeting. Has the Wetlands study been done ? It may have and may be bad news. If the study has NOT been done, we can assume that the Board feels no urgency - and that is a serious problem. Everything that relates to the Water Dept "bucket 'o blunders" is urgent, and Surfside has been chronically dismissive where the County, State, or Feds have made demands.

Continued arrogance/incompetence puts us all in jeopardy. Thanks for doing the research George.
