Any Storm Damage? updated 1:15 pm

pictures will be added during the day...updated w/pictures
Update...
I did not see any damage around Surfside, other than a garbage can and garbage blown along I Street to Oysterville  Road.  (picture below) I saw it on my way to the Seabreeze Lake outfall.  It was still there an hour later when I came back and saw a man walking right by it. This is at the home where the lady had complaints filed against her for garbage. That big bad Patrick Johansen, volunteered his time to help clean it up.  My thought today was, why had no one taken the time to pick it up?  Many had driven by.  Surfside employee or cop, they could have helped this old women a bit.

See pictures below...(3)

Power stayed on here on 324th Place.  I don't think the winds were nearly as high as predicted.  Saw a picture of sea weed washed up into the dunes.  How are things in your part of Surfside?  Part timers may be particularly interested.  If you see damage on neighbors property, please let them know, or notify the Surfside Business Office.

Power of the storm with sea weed washed up in the dunes. Dunes offer protection.

Garbage along street at I and Oysterville Road

The high water had come up the Oysterville Road approach. I met a couple who said the County had been working there all night.

Didn't see any of those dangerous Surf Pines blowing over and causing damage, even the dastardly 24 foot tall ones.

This was a very mild storm with winds in Surfside in the 20 to 30 mph range. I did see a large piece of tarp blowing down the street and some outdoor furniture blown over. Some members remain clueless about how to take care of things in respect to coastal weather.
8:35 - you are a trouble maker not a problem solver.

Stating fact is now troublemaking? Sound like a board member. Lol

8:35 is pointing out that the "fear of trees" contingent in Surfside (that so cherishes the pointless Tree restrictions), promotes baseless fear to try and justify Surfside micro-management of tree heights. Those who try to justify this intrusive policy are the troublemakers, and the claims that trees near houses are terribly dangerous, a sad myth.

If we abolished the Tree restrictions, the problem would be solved. Individual owners would still have the right to request HOA intervention, but solid proof that a tree or trees block their view would not be based on height, but solid proof of intrusiveness.

As said so many times on this blog by many people, there are more reasons than a view for the tree height restrictions. It is mostly agreed that the covenant could use some revision to achieve fairer and more consistent restrictions to provide views, protections in high wind events, greater safety in the event of wildfires and a general good appearance for the community.

It has often been claimed that there are "more reasons" to maintain these restrictions, and never demonstrated to be true. Trees need to be monitored for good health, and otherwise should be left to grow with a minimum of trimming. That is what the experts tell us, and Surfside likes to cling to this myth of safety and fire danger.

The community looks quite damaged along I Street and other areas with severe restrictions. If it wasn't for the tall trees that grace the ridgetop (without doing harm) and in areas outside Surfside, this community would look ridiculous with so many trees chopped into umbrella shapes and dieing, and nothing taller than the rooftops. Scanning the spit from atop the dunes, it becomes obvious that only the trees outside of the restricted area enhance the overall view of the community.

This policy needs to be radically scaled back or eliminated. It is used to keep the populace mindful that the HOA can mess with you at will over trifles. It's part of the BOT's control mechanism intended to "keep everyone in their place", and to intimidate.

Well George, why didn't you pick up the trash? If you got time to drive around and look for trouble to make, take time for someone else.

Plenty of dead fall on Sandridge. As the other comment said, these winds were not that bad. But since you want to use it to state your already known issues with the tree covenants, maybe the fact we have them is the reason for less damage from this in much worse storms. Bet George was happy that his neighbors killed those trees.

Who are your experts? The Arborist I had on my property didn't share your opinion when I had my trees removed.

The house with the trash can is the one with the Cadillac in the driveway right?

Well 2:11. Scanning westward seeing a broad view of the ocean, breakers, ships, whales and other wildlife enhances the community and ones well being also.

3:06, I did pick up the trash. What have you ever done for anyone besides shoot off your mouth? With my old legs, I only fell down once.

Stop attacking George. You make yourself look even more foolish, trollbait.
