How prevalent is this feeling among members?
"I am not a full timer. I am one of those not wanted, lowly RV people with topped trees and 1 storage shed."
Doug Malley...
.I found this one sentence in a comment, troubling and disturbing. How prevalent .is this feeling among the RV members? Are they justified in feeling this way, or are there just some isolated instances where there was some justification to feel this way.
I am sorry that this member or any others should feel this way. No member should think that they are better or smarter than any other member. We all pay the same and deserve the same respect.
I have experienced the same feeling because I live in an old single wide trailer in an area that is often put down. Guess that makes me "trailer trash" in some peoples opinion.
The members who are still in the work force today, have so much more stress than I had just 15 years ago. Even in my retirement, I moved here for a less stressful way of living. I can certainly understand the need for working members to have a place they can go to escape for a brief time, the stress of today. The Goal of this HOA, should be to have a stress free relaxing environment for everyone, part time or full time.
I enjoy seeing the RV folks having a good time here. Seeing them gathered around a camp fire brings back many good memories I had of coming to the beach. For Doug and others like him, I say welcome. Please don't judge all your fellow members by the actions of a few. The few are the ones who should not feel welcome, because they are not. We don't need to dissolve, We just need to fix the problems and move on.

In my opinion Mr. Malley's feelings about being not wanted because he is a RV owner is a misinterpretation. The majority of people who live here full time are not against part timers, they only asked that for the time being they followed the rules that had been set forth that state to avoid coming here. It didn't matter if you were an RV owner, second home owner or family/friends coming down for a visit. It isn't an unreasonable request considering many are following the guidelines by not coming here and those that ignore that policy are being disrespectful to those who do. So please don't turn this into something it's not.
Thanks George. I agree whole-heartedly.
Besides the fact that there are full timers here who started out as RVERS, your "most full timers" rant is just an unsubstantiated opinion. It has been discussed before that the permit helps to make sure nobody squats on your property, something that happened twice a year ago last winter in my neighborhood.
One has to wonder with all the vacant lots on the peninsula that you could have bought where you could have all those things you are complaining about, why didn't you? Could it be because you wouldn't feel as secure leaving that big RV of yours there without having any mean old full timers keeping an eye on it for you?
I have never had a problem with our RV neighbors. We do keep an eye on their place and have their phone number.
This may be the moment for the office to get with it on remote communications. Having closed the office, there is now some motivation. It should not be necessary to stop by the office in person for an RV permit, or a compactor pass, or to vote, or to attend a meeting.
What about The Ridge Elites. Ever drive up there and get the LOOK or have them walk down hill by my lot giving the LOOK. Very obvious to those down in the flat land - we must cut our trees While ONLOOKERS do not have to. How do I get sleep at night?
In response to May 7, 2020 at 5:42 AM, I think that most people buy property in Surfside instead of the rest of the peninsula because there are many more properties for sale in Surfside and they are much cheaper. The property prices seem to be driven down because of the poor, unethical and illegal management of the HOA and the damaging covenants such as the tree covenants that force people to damage and destroy their trees, the appearance of their property and their property values. I understand that there is about a 30% turnover annually of the Surfside properties. I know many of us did not expect the tyranny we found there and decided to sell.
Thank You Patrick!
I have really grown tired of the name calling and accusations on this blog, chose to remove my posts and not respond and just move on.
On another note, beaches are open and businesses are opening on the Peninsula, that should open up some horrible posts and great name calling!
See you all soon!
Patrick you are welcomed to your opinion, I just don't agree with it. I feel people buy here because of the proximity to the beach and the location that is away from the more touristy area of the south. Along with that the fact that the dues are low when you consider that they include water and garbage. And while there are some rules there really aren't that many when you compare ours to a typical HOA.
I also don't agree with your statement about property prices and values. I'm not going to deny that in some cases with certain small properties or some in undesirable areas that may be the case but that isn't true for the majority. In my area places have sold for the asking price and sometimes more. Add to that for years now that little card has shown up with an increase of my and other peoples property values and taxes. I also find it interesting that you bring this up when you sold your place for over double what you paid for it in only five years.
And please, just stop with this constant tyranny B.S. People choose to buy here, not forced. The information about rules, covenants and such is there for them to know. If they don't read them it is their choice. Everyone has the right to vote, but many make the choice to not. So to continue with this constant B.S. of yours is an insult to those who truly live under real tyranny.
While I seldom agree with you I will give credit where credit is due. You have definitely mastered the art of hyperbole.

That was me George. I'm glad nobody else hated me as much as you and Cox to pile on or call me more names. Well, I've removed the post.

The comment above by Mike Riley, Is just one of many that he tries to post every day. He is an unstable crack pot who is obsessed with Mr. Cox. It is because of people like him, that I have to monitor every comment. He uses a half dozen names including anonymous. The fool thinks I even bother reading his dribble. Thank God he was not elected to the Board when he was going to run for the Board, then wasn't, then was and would not submit a candidate statement.
Thank you to those of you who do make rational comments. I will continue to filter the trash as much as I can.
