General Manager

Will he be allowed to be effective?

Tom Reber, General Manager

Every thing that has to do with our HOA, should go through Mr. Reber.  This is the authority with the questions and answers.  He is the one in charge of the day to day operations of Surfside.  This is what he was hired to do.  He must be allowed and encouraged with full Board approval.  He can only succeed if allowed to do what the position demands.

The days of micro management by the Board should end with the hire of Mr. Reber.
Board Trustee meddling in the day to day operations need to end.

Volunteer activities in all committees should be under the direction of the General Manager.  There is no longer the need for there to be any involvement or representation on a committee by a Board member.  Mr. Reber can and should be that representation.  He is the one to decide what committee action needs to be a Board discussion or decision.  The present committees are rampant with conflict of interest.  The General Manager should be the one to assess the effectiveness and need for a committee.  He should convey that to the Board in a monthly report.

He should set the Board Meeting Agenda according to the needs for Board action and motions. He should make policy change suggestions as needed.  He should be the person that the Board and regular members go to for answers.  He is the one who should speak with our lawyer, not the Board President or anyone who wants to pick up the phone and make a call.

Nothing should go around him or past him.  We are seeing decisions being made without consulting him. Example is that of Mr. Clancy terminating a contract.  Another example is Mr. Clancy contacting Pacific County officials. This type of behavior needs to end.

If any General Manager is not given the proper authority and respect, they are doomed to failure that is not their fault.  We need new faces on this Board, who will accept that a new direction is needed, and the old ways have failed.

The general manger and the so called compliance officer are just puppets of the board. They were hand picked and are only there to cash a check.

Not a chance. With the current clowns on the board, they have as much chance as a major league baseball manager, hired to be fired.

Have you taken the time to speak to or get to know the new GM or Compliance Offiicer?

What I've observed the new GM doesn't seem to do much. Easy gig!

Yeh, where do I sign up!

Since we pay for his services I would like to know what his salary and benefits amount to. Probably considered none of our business.

You could ask for the information you seek or you can sit here grumbling. Your choice.
