Surf-in-Sider

Summer 2019....."State of Surfside"

If it wasn't so false, it would be funny.
Board President, Gary Williams, declares a warning about "social media" (this blog) and the challenge for the members in sorting out the truth.  What a joke, when the biggest challenge for the members is to get the truth from this President and Board.

His long message about the "State of Surfside", is about as far from the actual truth as you can get. We are in a state of legal entanglements, law suits, fines and penalties as well as a criminal investigation.  Employees and member health has been compromised by deliberate criminal acts.
This President is a disgrace and should resign or be removed.  This person has no feeling of shame for his actions.  The rest of the Board is just as shameful for allowing him to continue in any capacity.

His lip stick on this pig of a mess does not change what it really is...a mess, with much of it due to him.  Shameful.

Why is Williams saying thank you? For what? This guy is just about as dumb as they come. He is a good example of what is wrong with Surfside.

This is simply a pathetic attempt to cover up the lies, malfeasance and hypocrisy the come from the current Board. Williams proves once again he has no shame, and will continue covering up until this Association is dead.

Dissolution would be preferable to continuing under the present management.

Might as well stop beating the dissolution drum - it isn't remotely possible. 80% or more of the membership doesn't vote or follow any news about Surfside, otherwise there would be a sudden response to this outrageous cover-up.

I agree, it's a disturbing situation that deserves member's attention. Will we see more votes cast this year ? Even though the information is out there, it is doubtful disengaged owners will be aware or respond differently than in past years.

Funny that Williams cautions against believing information offered on the blog, when all of the Trustees know that they are withholding critical information, required by State law to be shared with the members who are paying the bills. The information has come from knowledgeable people who work in the Water Dept. and Trustees, and not out of thin air.

Word is that Williams is up for a Pulitzer Prize in fiction, followed closely by all of the present and past members of the Board running for election/reelection who promise "transparency". Of course that probably is all "fake news", unlike the stream of information we get from the Board.

You all need a bit of a reality check. The Surf-In-Sider is no different than the State of the Union address. It has and will always be a positive piece concerning the association while in comparison this blog pretty much is always filled with negativity.

The statements about social media is true not just about this site but about social media in general. There are lies, needless attacks and hypocrisy here also along with the truthful comments, that's a fact. It's just how things are nowadays.

So we should be held hostage by an association that does not support our best interests, and doesn't even follow their own rules. Apparently, it's just how things are nowadays. Priceless.

9:20 - You ignore the fact that there is a great deal of very consequential stuff that has occurred in the past year, and the only reason we know about it is that the Blog published this information. That's really inconvenient for a Board that has tried to keep this under wraps, and commenters on the Blog have been pretty merciless in their criticism of this, as well as Williams "State-of-the Community" statement last June, which was entirely false.

This year's statement isn't really trying to make an enlightening statement about social media in general, which everyone should be familiar with, but it seeks to offer an alternative narrative, that what the Blog has stated as fact, much of which has been also reported by the "Observer", is "fake news". Calling factual information "fake" is very popular these days. Using this excuse, we can all pretend that bad stuff never happens in Surfside HOA, and reports to the contrary can just be dismissed.

Owners want to hear positive reports, certainly, but the HOA has been spending vast sums of member money on legal issues that could easily been avoided, and an honest accounting of why is overdue. Grown-ups can handle the truth, and do not benefit from denying it.

Williams continues to play the same old tired tactic. Deny the truth and attack who said it. Pathetic.

He's just trying to do what he's told so someday the J placers will accept him into their culture.

I'm looking forward to attending those community activities intended to unify the membership...I hope they have beer there!

It'll be BYOB, and I'd stay away from the geriatric key parties

I was extremely offended when the Pres offered up, "Fake news" as a sound byte in this newsletter. You are just as divisive as the Orange Moron in the Oval Office and serve NO USEFUL PURPOSE!
