Firewise

Deception and misrepresentation....Firewise committee minutes

Firewise sounds like a good idea, Right?
It is if the program is followed as written.  The concept is to eliminate fire hazard materials and provide a fire safety zone around structures.  The Surfside chipping site does not accept all material. Dune grasses and other grass and some types of foliage are not accepted.  In fact, the collected material poses a substantial hazard it's self.  County ordinances classify this site as a "dump" site.  It is not properly permitted or have a screened fence.

The facts:

There is NO  chartered Firewise committee.  Firewise is a program, not a committee.
It is about disposal of tree toppings.
Most members are J Place people.
It violates County rules and regulations.
The costs to operate far exceed income (donations)
The costs are rapidly increasing.

Every member is responsible for the maintenance and care of their own property.  Members do share the cost to maintain common property such as parks and facility grounds.  No member should have to pay anything to take care of someone's private property.

Expense:

The "committee" minutes fail to disclose the actual financial figures.  You probably think that donations covered most of the costs. WRONG.

2018 figures:
Expense....11,458.71
Income.....  3, 075.00
Budgeted ...7,500.00
Budget for 2019...10,250.00

Below are the two pages from this non committee. Click on each to enlarge.

Great. Just what we need. More people, same people, telling us what to do.

Once again the J place hate is strong here.

The chipping site is used and appreciated by ALL members. To say it is about only tree toppings is bull.

Two husband/wife teams? Talk bout voting block control. Typical. Btw, our chipped material is sold with no benefit to shoa.

The comment about the selling of wood chips is misleading. We get a reduced price from the chipper man allowing him to remove (and lessen fire danger)the chips from the site.
