2ND PROXY BALLOT

NO FILING INSTRUCTIONS...

"Due to an error"  The members received in the mail starting today, 6/16/2021 a .51 cent postage envelope containing the new ballot instructing to vote for 4 (four) candidates. It also contained the short explanation (a cover up) and also an envelope addressed to DECC Janet Corey.

What was not included was the agenda page which gave the date and time deadlines.  Now, if you as a good Surfside member, filled out the first ballot and sent it for 50 cents,  then you did a good job and threw away all the other garbage.  Now you have a new ballot and you can spend another fifty cents. You may think you have more time to send.  Nope.  If members get confused, and they do, and who wouldn't, for sure they are now.  How many will just say "the hell with it"?  Seems simple enough to me to include the agenda page with the vote filing instructions.  Didn't happen.

You may want to click on each page below for a larger read.  There is a large space between the notice and the new ballot shown on this posting.  Just scroll down.

Notice the typo at top of page..
*These items my be completed for this proxy to be valid *
It should read *These items MUST be completed for this proxy to be valid*
If this isn't the biggest shitshow

I really believe we should Cancel this election. Too many errors . Too confusing and improper instructions.
What is the process to stop this election and operate the HOA with the remaining 5 Board Members??

JoAnne said...

The information sent with this corrected ballot should have been forthcoming and stated completely why the member was receiving it. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO CAST 4 VOTES INSTEAD OF THE 3 AS STATED PREVIOUSLY
Let’s not try and whitewash this error. And the word MY is quite different than MUST!

Ronda F said...

Joanne, they cannot possibly say this "my" "must" was another typo. The document was in the system. They had to physically change that word.
What a bunch of idiots

@Ronda - putting your name on a comment does not give license to be rude or treat people poorly. Why would the staff or anyone want to work with you when you have berated them?
Some here step up and defend anonymous when it aligns with their positions yet call them cowardly when posting anonymous positions that do not.

That is an interesting response @4:34.
Hopefully nobody died (it is just a blog after all).
8:26 asked a question of Ronda and shared an opinion. I'm not reading anything that indicated they believed they were in charge. No need to respond but do if you desire (I wouldn't want to come across like I'm in charge).

Most of us surely understand Ronda's reaction, it's just that nothing can really be done about ANOTHER stupid mistake. The typo IS significant because it changes the meaning conveyed.

Nothing can be done but to carefully proofread in situations like an election ballot in the future.

Wanted to get the word out that I managed to get a short article on the Bylaw Change effort several of us took to the Board a month ago. It'll be in the Weekender accessible on the S.S.website.

The Board inappropriately blocked our simple common sense proposal. We'll keep at it until we get it passed.

I'm betting they will force the Lighting proposal on the membership. Members have only the Annual Meeting to discuss this strange covenant that lacks specific details. It'sa trick. Don't fall for it.

JoAnne said...

Good job Steve! Anxious to read and hope members understand what is intended. The ability for the members to vote on the covenants!

Ronda F said...

@8:26, I have every right to state my opinion and I do. How you interpret it is on you. Again, I'm not hiding behind anonymous.

The lighting proposal will effect a HUGE amount of members. I wonder just how this is going to go down? Will we need a couple more compliance employees? The lighting proposal is crossing the line on so many levels.

Just for Clarity: If I intend to attend the meeting in July do I need to send in my ballot to vote against incumbents or can I do it in person?

Anonymous said...

#Ronda - nobody said you don't have a right to your opinion. What they said was signing your name doesn't give you the right to treat people poorly. I don't think I misinterpreted your opinion. Calling people a bunch of idiots can really open be interpreted one way. You are a bully.

2 proxy ballots have been sent, the first was wrong in how many votes we cast, causing a 2nd to go out, clearly with a typo. Now members money has been spent to fix this fiasco. If it was done right the first time they wouldn't be called idiots

Thanks for setting the bar of perfection. I hope you aren't elected but can't wait to shine the same spotlight of expectation on you if you are.

Anonymous said...

Steven Wallace- The way I understand this weird voting process is if you attend, you will vote in person. Arrive before the 9:45 deadline and you will be given a ballot. If you mail in the paper, you are giving a "proxy" the trust to vote for you as marked on the paper.

I too am attending. And I too really believe this is a dishonest way to vote, limiting those who wish to vote by confusion. If a person marks a vote and signs a ballot, this should be a legal standing vote without anything called "proxy". Shady shady stuff.

Please someone, confirm what I understand and thank you!

confirmed.

One of my neighbors just dropped off their proxy paper because I told them I didn't understand it either and was going to the meeting. They filled it out with signed it but I have no clue what to do now.

1. Do I mail it in and will I be assigned a different ballot at the meeting for this member?

2. Do I hand deliver this with my attendance?

I don't understand this entire voting thing at all, it's not normal.

George Miller said...

They, not you, have to mail it in the envelope that was provided with the ballot or they can take it to the office, not you. If they named you as the proxy and you attend the meeting (Annual) the ballot will be given to you at that time. If you do not attend the meeting, the ballot will be discarded. They should not have given you the ballot.

Anonymous said...

It happened and there's nothing anyone can do about it. This is the problem with this proxy system. It eliminates and dilutes voting power on many levels. They filled out the entire ballot themselves and we are both honest members. It will just go in the mail without any other need to know.

Why are we voting like this anyway? Seems things can be simplified without it.

I used to be a Union Steward. The Union wasn't lawless. No, as a matter of fact, it too had agreements and rules, and members in good standing. The Union idea is how I would like to see this HOA.

Equality, harmony, sister/brotherhood, unity, thriving

In cases where those find Ronda is rude or lashes out, it is part of the system. Sometimes 'strong' language needs to be used to get the point across. It's very easy to pearl clutch, reprimand, or wring your hands like a puritan or authoritarian, but there will be a day when you need a person like this to stand beside you when it counts.

Change is hard, but often times things turn out better than before. There will be more elections, it just seems right now, those in power, don't want to ever have elections again and need to remain in power for perpetuity.

Why, I don't know, but I think we could benefit from some kind of term limit agreement. As is often seen in any business, when the top people remain for long period of time, corruption occurs. Let that sink in for a minute and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE any way you can!

Anonymous said...

Sorry @1:36 - this is an HOA, there is no reason here, or in business, for anybody to be rude or disrespectful - period. It is not pearl clutching or hand wringing. Treating people poorly is not defendable.

Only in your stepford world! How dare a woman have an opinion or thought outside of your Gilead world. Step off already with your righteous self, unless of course, it is you who is the awful typo genius. Then, by all means, defend yourself, otherwise, blessed be the fruit, under his eye!

We all care for this community. Let us hear each other. At the end, please vote! Some things have to change. Members need to be heard more. The board trustee's responsibility remains to be to represent members to the best of their ability and not get persuaded by a selected few trustees. Let us vote the best candidate.

Whatever @3:23 - nowhere was the ability to voice an opinion questioned. Work on your comprehension please. It is possible for professional adults to voice an opposing opinion without resorting to berating.

Geez, 5:20, we love being told what to do, how to behave, where to go, what to buy, and most of all, what to say!

You are a beacon in this community. Thanks so much for reminding the rest of the neighborhood what sanctimonious looks like.

When you are a paid employee, and one of them 80,000 a year, you would think they could get their act together so this type of stuff wouldn't happen. I agree, more wasted money. But heck, they still have trouble live streaming, I guess we shouldn't expect a lot from them idiots.

I really like the windowed envelope with the little sticker on it for the return address. If you mail it in and don't re-fold the ballot so the plain side is facing out, the post office is going to have a hella problem processing those envelopes. Oh, wait, maybe that's the idea?????

Anonymous said...

My return envelope does not have a window. What makes you so special? My Insider also had two candidate pictures missing.

Anonymous said...

Well now, what do we have here, more discrepancies with ballot envelopes and ballot material. I think I have to agree with Rhonda

I see flood is supporting Williams, now there is 2 peas in a pod!

We saw how it worked out for Flood. May Williams be as lucky. They should work together and clean up their eyesore property.
