Committee Reports....Compliance Report
NOTHING...ZIP
If your looking for information, don't bother checking the "official" Surfside web site. Even the "Board Packet" has been removed as well as the video recordings. Maybe they were just to much of an embarrassment.
There have been a number of committee meetings and they have not been posted as well as other reports. Guess we just have to trust the trustees. Sure, when pigs fly.

And what about security, any resolution? Almost willing to get a group together and pay someone just to visit and report back on our properties. Almost a private neighborhood watch program for those willing to shell out the money. Anyone interested in being a paid "private concerned citizen?" Could even call it a donation for public service.
Meaning the payment is a donation, not the service.
That is an interesting proposal. I personally looked at hiring a local patrol company, couldn't find one. An alarm company mentioned if we are paying a portion of our dues for patrol, Surfside is in contract violation of the CCRs. He mentioned each member could file a small claims suit for the amount we feel is justified to be returned, but not against Surfside, but each BOT member listed on it. If not resolved, its a small cost and would affect each BOT individually on their credit and financial reports just due to the filing.
The cost is about $32 per year/member for the Patrol
A total waste of money, like so much of the spending in Surfside. Give us water and garbage, and the hell with the rest if it. This HOA is a total failure.
Drop water and garbage for all I care, I'll pay for what I use, almost wants me to just run water nonstop while I'm there to get my equal share. Sure garbage pick up service would also be better. Though quicker for me to just drop off in cabana cans.
12:17, garbage amounts to about 50 a year, bring bulky stuff from home when you visit like i do. Water is pretty cheap at under 300 a year, though I see some have large expanses of manicured lawns that they couldn't afford to keep up if they lived anywhere else.
I say drop the compactor site, we can sign up for garbage service or do our own. Get rid of water department, merge with the Northbeach water. No contract with the sheriff, we pay county taxes already. We need to downsize our HOA and the dues associated with trying to run a small city instead of an HOA
I'm not a full time residence, having the garbage facility to dump my stuff before I go home was one of things that I liked about the HOA. I vote to keep it and water.
To JoAnne and others who want a garbage service a question.
With the bear activity here why would you want one?
Anonymous 3:36. Good question. It wouldn’t be a problem for us as we have a garage to store our garbage can, but of course not everyone does. Wonder how big of a problem it us on the rest of the peninsula
Anonymous 12:22. How did you arrive at the figure $300 a year for water? Just curious. I don’t have a current copy of our budget
Just took the water budget from the SS website, divided by 2300
Thanks anonymous 5;32
12:17....You would rather pay for garbage pick-up than continue the compactor site ? You are such a lousy citizen, you can't take your garbage to the site rather than dumping it at a cabana ? If you don't spend much time in Surfside, it shouldn't be too difficult to take your garbage home, assuming you have garbage service there. Jack's has garbage bins charging per bag.
It shouldn't be too much to expect adult humans to take responsibility to dispose of their garbage responsibly. Urban areas have fines for improper disposal and stockpiling garbage, which attracts rats opposums, racoons, bears, seagulls and crows. You aren't marooned on an island so what you do effects other people's lives when you make expect others to deal with your waste.
Having a contract with local law enforcement gave Surfside members a modicum of security, but added a significant contribution to law enforcement presence on the northend of the peninsula. These officers have proper training and capability to deal with a range of situations, as well as training in proper use of force. It doesn't seem that a workable contract will be happening any time soon. That is really a bigger problem than simply Surfside's needs, when it is obvious that the entire peninsula is under-served.
But it is absurd to suggest that our dues and assessments don't provide a good base of services. The irresponsibility of the BOT is another matter, and very telling of the entitlement many owners feel, to pretend to represent the membership, while ignoring member input and playing out their own agendas. Taking a Federal hardship grant shows how selfish the BOT is. Really embarrassing !!
It is more than embarrassing, It is illegal. Taking or applying for funds under false pretenses, is illegal and subject to fines and penalties. That's all we need, another criminal investigation. The board treasurer, Rudd, has shown dishonesty and the rest of the board share in that. Knowingly making false statements to federal agencies is against the law amd they are not covered by association insurance. And guess who pays the fines? You and me. A mistake can be embarrassment, but what they are doing is criminal.
The motion to approve application for this money was done at the board meeting after the money was already in the bank!
It’s illegal! Give me a break. The armchair lawyers and judges on this blog are at it again. How many times have they claimed Surfside has broken the law and Surfside will be fined or people will be arrested. Whatever happened to the EPA investigation? Did Surfside ever get a fine from the EPA? Did anyone ever go to jail? Don’t you get tired of sounding foolish?
The $ received should be returned, we are all guilty if we let this stand.
I agree 100% with you 3:26. I remember back with the EPA issue people on here were talking like Eliot Ness was going to march in here and put the board in handcuffs.
I also agree with most of what Cox says. Could have done without the "lazy citizen" remark but that's his shtick. While some would be fine with storing garbage in a garage or what have you till trash day it doesn't make sense. A couple years ago neighbors of mine got home late from shopping and didn't feel like empty the car of all they had. They left dog food and bird seed in it among other things. Luckily their motion detectors alerted them to a bear trying to get into the car.
It's so easy to bag up your trash when it gets full and drop it off. It takes what, 10-15 minutes max?
New code enforcement officer for county should be much more professional and efficient compared to last one. I applaud the counties choice, good man who has and will serve citizens fairly.
You got to be kidding 7:17 Travuis is doing there what he did here, NOTHING. The current dune modification is a good example. All the County does is pass the buck while the dunes continue to be destroyed. And, Wolfe thinks he deserves to be re elected? I don't think so.
I found out only 2 letters or emails were sent into the BOT before the meeting last Saturday! No one had any questions to ask the board?
I think general consensus is it's a waste of time.
It is waste of time until we have a board that represents the people as a whole, not just J place concerns. How many J place board members are there anyway?
There are four right now
" No Defund the Police" we must be racists.
Is there way to get out of this HOA? Besides moving. When we moved here I signed up for security, water and garbage. We have given up the security with no refunds. The water is a joke, we filtered water, have a water distiller and we drive to get spring water. There are too many problems with water, water pipes, and asbestos for the ss to handle. Some want to give up water and garbage I’m sure this is coming as soon as the board figures out a way to pass this without refunding the money. The board stole money, taking government stimulus. The rules change for members depending on who the board wants revenge on. The seed on m pl and I st. seems to be 50mph for many and no one is enforcing the speed limit. What are we paying for?
We are paying for tree complaints
9:34....You probably are a racist since you find this to be a joke. But what is misleading is, no one pretends to think that we don't need Police Depts. The objectives of progressive voices is to take the needless violence seriously as violence against our own citizens that ends in death, often without proof that a crime has been committed.
Seattle has struggled with this, like other larger cities. What is espoused is, to restructure responses to be more effective for specific circumstances. I think it's unrealistic to think that police should be well versed in psychology, de-escalating domestic violence or drug-fueled behavior, etc. There's no reason to think that in depth analysis and restructuring, can't work toward making the job of Police, much better, and hopefully safer.
I think most of us are very thankful so many people want to serve in law enforcement, and recognize how challenging their jobs can be. Change is going to have to take place. There are more good citizens marching in favor of change in this movement than any other movement in this country.
The pressure of peaceful protest has brought about some major policy changes in this country, and in many cases, high profile individuals have seen the value of these citizen efforts, and helped move legislation forward to further humanitarian change. The American Revolution was based in protest and citizen demands for change. The Constitution and Bill of Rights establish its' importance.
Very good point. We could probably get them on that one. That might be criminal, possibly fraud. It's definitely a civil infraction. It's definitely one more case of not following our own, their own, governing documents. It's all documented.
It's Trump's EPA. It doesn't surprise me one bit that they did nothing.
Yes. It's a waste of time. They don't care what we say or ask. They know they have the proxy votes, valid and invalid who knows, they need to keep the Faction in power.
They also know members won't work together and unite to end the Faction.
Our dues and assessments don't provide a good base of services. I haven't even seen all our books, but I know our hoa doesn't need over 1.5 million to operate.
Our dues and assessments should be $300.
at 7:01...Travis started in February. The pandemic started in March. If Pacific County was like every other county in the state, they had their code enforcement officers working from home. They were not allowed to go do inspections or have any contact with people, and this is still the case in some counties.
Secondly, unless a complaint was actually filed regarding the dunes, Travis would not respond, nor should he, it is not a county issue, but an ecology issue.
Let me point out, Travis is the only officer in the entire Pacific County. The entire County!!! Complaints have to be filed and the proper channels gone through. Surfside is not his only area. If there are no trespassing signs on a property, he cannot go onto the property unless he has an appointment with the owner. If owner does not cooperate, he files a letter of non compliance and closes the case until the property is sold. Pacific County does not have funds to abate property, I wish they did.
