Our Water Program or Lack There Of...
In my my opinion...
Based on reporting on the blog and other information gained by those present at the recent Water Planning "work shop", one thing is evident...These people don't have a clue as to what they are doing or should be doing. The one and only thing they said was, that maybe outside sources should be contracted for a complete review of our water program and operations. One that is "independent" of Surfside. I agree with that 100%
How can you know where you are going if you don't know where you are? Another question with an evident answer is...How did that contract with North Beach and Bill Neal work out for you?
A mile of new pipe a year without any testing of the condition of the "old" pipe.
A new carbon filtration system that does little and costs more to operate than forecast.
Workers exposed to asbestos.
A criminal investigation.
Thousands spent on removal of illegally buried pipe in the well field.
Building without permits, resulting in 10,000.00 fine.
Is our water better today than it was 10 years ago? What happened to the promise that our water quality would be better after spending millions of dollars? We still have colored water, except now, I get a dose of black stuff every time they flush the carbon. (which they must have done last week)
The contract with North Beach ends at the end of this month. Bill Neal has said recently that there is no one presently employed that is capable of running the water program. The new General Manager said that he "will take a course" I thought he was hired because of his water experience.
Mr. Neal stated that he would still be in the area for questions and advice. I expect he will write up an independent contract for his service, much like he did when he wrote the original North Beach contract. Will he and Mr. Reber strike up a sweet heart deal?
More and more, there is discussion of getting rid of the water program. Unless we have "another study" as previously mentioned, and/or hire a real qualified water manager, I favor getting rid of it.

Why isn't a current valid WA DOH Community Water System Permit posted on the SHOA website?
Do we have one?
I bet the EPA investigation is done and they won't do anything.
Dream on 7:10. Workers were def exposed to asbestos without any training etc. a price will be paid.
Ive been called paranoid in the past, but i have always said our water dept being prepped to be taken over.
This is 7:10. I hope I'm dreaming.
I really hope you're right 7:31.
I really hope you're right too 7:32.
Sell the water to North Beach Water and get rid of most of the employees and then focus on bingo and chili cook offs, something the board is qualified to manage.
No, they are not
Great recommendation 11:17. I fully support that recommendation.
11:17, you can minus the bingo, that involves money and we have seen how they have handle that in the past around here.
You're right 12:49. If they manage Bingo, they must use Monopoly money only.
Put that in your CC&Rs, Surfside Board.
