I can just see Annette out there trying to find "lost" ballets. Nice to see Williams was so far down the list, hopefully he gets a hint, but am certain both of them will be campaigning heavy for next year starting within weeks.

Several things pop out at me...First, Gary Williams came in last. This should be a clear message. Second, Over 500 members voted. Much more than usual. Another message.

The election 70-604 of 432 yes and 69 No indicates to me that the members do not understand this choice. If they did, the numbers would have been reversed. What this does, is it gives them the right to keep your unspent funds and place them in their hands to use as they want. That money should be returned to the members or at least used to offset the following years budget.

Clear message for sure. I agree on the budget item. It clearly says that we are not to run any projects for a profit and that money is not to be to be used for another budget item. Ie: loosing money chipper, money maker rv storage and $200 transfer fee!

George, that's exactly what I thought it meant. Doesn't it go into reserve for future unforeseen events? To keep the dues low and to support those expenses that show up and help assist with avoiding any special assessments in the future?

I think we are due a detailed explanation if not.

Be kind to one another.

It can be used for whatever they like. There is no special fund designated for it.

OH NO, it SHOULD be in a 'rainy day' fund. Something can happen where a large amount of money is needed and we would then be burdened with the cost. If there is a rainy day fund it could save us from trouble. I'm pretty sure everyone believes this is where any extra money is going. Even I have a rainy day fund for the household. It's pure stupidity not to have one.

What can be done about this? I think this is a topic that needs to be addressed more openly, so people will understand what it's for.

This is another trouble spot, geez, does it ever end?

We are ok. In fact, better than ok. The "operations fund" has ample funds for the rest of the year and beyond. The "capitol" reserve fund has more than enough for actual replacement and repairs. Most HOA's would love to have our financial status. There is really no excuse for our common lands (parks, beach paths and other property) to not be in perfect condition. There should also be in place a new business office with ample meeting room. We have wasted so much that could have been spent on these.

The present and past Boards have lacked a purpose and vision for the members. Maybe we will start to see a change. Time will tell. First step is to weed out the waste. Second is to develop a plan and act on it. Just my opinion.

What exactly happens to the money then? Is it treated as petty cash? Is it unaccounted for? Does anyone know how much money it actually is?

It's a tad concerning that people don't know what the 70-604 is for. Can we be enlightened?

Looking at the ballot it states:

VOTE FOR 70-604 ELECTION to apply unexpended 2021 revenue to the reserve fund - yes- no- ABSTAIN

There must be a reserve fund somewhere. Now, what that fund is designated for should be brought out into the light.

Please and thank you.

It is the "operations" reserve fund. This is the fund that your dues and assessments go into, except the amount in the budget that is designated for the "capitol" reserve fund.

The operations fund contains various cd account and different banking accounts. During the year, money is transferred out of those and into checking to pay the everyday bills etc. There are a lot of different cd's and bank accounts to stay within the bank insured amounts. When there is a "special assessment" that collected money is kept in separate banking accounts.

Basically, what you are doing when you approve this is...Your saying, keep our money. Usually not that much, so no big deal. Now, Misc. Income is a whole another story. That is
a mess and an example of very poor accounting practice.

Interesting how quickly things change in a year. An even larger turnout refuting SU and their candidates.
