It's Broken...

We can fix it...

Most will agree that our association is a mess, but it can be fixed.  Because of the good people who live and own property here, it is worth fixing.  I have said many times, that living here is like stepping back in time 50 years or more.  I am talking about the members and how the treat each other.  Another expression often heard is "We are on beach time"  and that is very true.  I think our new Board is going to make a huge difference. Yes they will make some mistakes, but they won't be because of special interests.  I really do think they want to do the right things. We have a lot of things to be fixed and it will take time.  They need our support.  Remember this old saying..."When you point a finger at someone, there are 4 pointing back at you".

Thank you George for all your support. We will try to make it better. You are truly one of a kind and will be missed by many of us.
What better place to live than the beach, the finish line!

Yes the beach is a wonderful place, but what really makes it wonderful, are the people here. Please treat them kindly. They deserve no less.

Love our beach home! So many nice people and dogs. Just need to make it a bit more relaxed! Since we met in 2019 you know how much I’ve tried to improve some problems, not in a combative style. Rest easy knowing your work will continue and more flowers will be planted.
We are truly blessed to live here in our final chapter of our lives

Thank you George, for allowing us to vent our concerns and for sharing your vast knowledge of Surfside.

I'm glad the blog will continue, so we can share our hopes for the future of Surfside.

We love our beach house, but are what you call "part timers". We go to the ocean to energize our souls.

Gods speed, my friend.
🙏

Thank you George for giving us this venue to vent and discuss our issues, although at times unknown people have displayed some bad thoughts and attitudes it has given us a place to post our feelings. As I told Ronda today, I have not met you, but my grandfather was George and I somehow just have great respect for you and your ability to handle all of this with such grace! God speed my friend and enjoy your next life.

I am finding it difficult to face not having you to consult and talk with. I've come to realize how important you became in my life, knowing you were there at the Millers Place to talk sense and "love your neighbor".

We will be successful in getting some important changes made to our procedures. You have served as an inspiration and a catalyst. Just love the picture of your place in bloom !

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts. I deleted the back and forth. I know that all who commented did so in good faith and I appreciate the sentiments from both or all sides. We all need to try and get along, just a little bit better.

So I just read the most recent Weekender. A letter from Ric Minich, new HOA president, makes reference to member concerns over rumors of interference in proceeding with member motions at the Annual Meeting.

While he complains of misrepresentations of his private meetings, he offers no candid insight into what is going on, on this front.

The rest of the Weekender is void of further information, and speaking to a newly elected Trustee, only very limited e-mail exchanges have taken place.

Will the BOT openly discuss the motions and specific action that will take place ? Their most recent practice has been to avoid discussion in open meetings, which obviously effectively hides Board intent.

So we will wait and see what IS in fact discussed, but the Pres. needs to recognize that the secrecy they have been able to get away with in closed meetings is not going to be tolerated.

In addition, there needs to be complete clarity about the role of the Bus. Manager in Board affairs. It is apparent that there is a job description not made public, giving this position unwarranted authority to participate in the governance of the community, such as the editing of member submitted motions.

Rics letter is a joke. If he didn't want to be president, why did he vote for himself? His secret meetings with Tracy and phone calls to lawyer they make are costing us members money! Get rid of both of them.
