STAY HOME!

 Please, Stay Home./////

The majority of full time residents are a "high risk" group for the virus to cause death.  I know it sounds scary, but it is the truth.  Over 3,000 Americans died yesterday and the numbers are expected to go higher. We are in a crisis. Job losses are sky rocketing.

If you do come, please don't shop for groceries, buy gas or visit our Business Ofice or compactor.  We need to take extra care to protect our Surfside employees.  All Board members and committee members need to stay awaay from the office.

Our Board President, Gary Williams, should call for a Special Board Meeting, and call for a moritorium on all enforcement of tree complaints for one year. A first class letter needs to be sent to all members who have an outstanding tree complaint, notifying them of the moritorium. Please don't come down here to top trees.

It is a safety issue and this Board needs to take action immediately.

Sorry George, as an adult it is up to me to make that decision. Two of my grandparents lived through the 1918 epidemic and another survived a nazi concentration camp. Those that feel at risk, act accordingly, we still have a few freedoms left in this country, so I suggest use those that you can as it's all about to change. Those that are afraid to live because they might die have already died. And please Steve, no comment, you have posted quite a bit regarding this.

Give me a break.

While I do agree with you, I recall back when the Governor and Pacific county asked people to stay away you didn't criticize your buddies who ignored them and came down here anyways.

Those who actually care about their fellow members will do the right thing. Those that are selfish will not. People aren't traveling down here just to top trees. There is nothing the board can do to make them stay away.

The virus is a hoax. Don't wear a mask and go anywhere, anytime you want. MAGA

The moratorium starts in two weeks.

Is that a hoax?

I'm new here. I heard Cox wasn't seated on the board. What happened? Why wasn't he seated on the board?

I'm coming to my house this weekend, will stay until I decide to leave, will shop at stores if open, will buy gasoline, get take out, and will wear a mask.

Rest assured, I will comment whenever I choose. There are many these days that are not comfortable with freedom of speech, and many come on the Blog who are intolerant of opposing views. That's YOUR problem.

There is no "stay at home" order in place, so members have a right to visit their property if they choose. My wife and I are retired, and have been isolating for the most part, since late February. We are both 69 years old, so have risk factors that we take seriously. Neither of the first 2 posters have a clue what I have said in the past, they just don't want to hear the issue discussed rationally. Tough.

It is easy to come down to Surfside and avoid contacts with others. But the fact is, if you want to avoid getting the disease, you take precautions, and are methodical about it. We have been fortunate in Thurston County to have had a very low level of infection and spread. That has minimized our risk, though the entire U.S. has rampant Covid spread, and few controls to prevent it. That has put the entire country at great risk.

Opening the Peninsula to business during the Summer months was necessary, but it resulted in a big jump in Covid cases, and Pacific County now has a problem with transmission. What is certain is, fulltime surfside residents go to Astoria, Longview, Portland, etc. - as needed for special needs such as Doctor appointments. The reality is, only about half the population express willingness to take the vaccine when available, while health experts say that about 70 to 80% is necessary to achieve "herd" resistance.

In this ridiculously polarized political environment, many Americans choose outlandish conspiracy theories over facts. If fear and doubt prevent adequate vaccination levels, the virus will continue for years, even mutating to more deadly forms, and our economy will never rebound.

We all have to accept that there are many months before vaccines will be readily available, we must listen to and trust the health experts, and we must all minimize our exposure, wearing masks, and following distancing protocol. Paranoia or machismo won't benefit resistance to this deadly disease.

I respected the previous "stay at home" order last March, having begun quarantining in February. I had been in S.S. for 2 weeks just prior to the order, returning home the day before, and didn't return to Surfside for 2 months. I had no direct contact with anyone, but needed to do yard and property maintenance.

I got blood-poisoning from a biopsy about 3 weeks ago, and almost died. I spent 5 days in the hospital. I will come to Surfside whenever I choose, to enjoy the peace and quiet, and enjoy my retirement property. I'm going to be as cautious as I can to prevent contracting the virus, and have no need to have direct contact with anyone. Deal with it. The virus will still be around years from now if the morons who say it's a hoax, and fools who think they can get the virus from inoculation prevent our reaching 70 to 80% inoculation.

Hi Cox. In the spring, your lawn was more important than the Pacific County and Surfside community. You violated George's order on this, his, blog!

I really hate sanctimonious morons who seem to forget we free to make our own decisions related to travel even during a pandemic. How many millions traveled for Thanksgiving? If you are worried about contracting COVID then take appropriate measures to protect yourself. Just don’t tread on me.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately I know EXACTLY what you have said in the past since you repeat yourself constantly.

The bottom line is this, you ignored the travel restrictions that were ask of you. You can try to spin it anyway you want to try and validate that decision in your mind but it doesn't change that FACT. Because of this you have no credibility to lecture ANYONE on this subject.

And this new tactic of yours about people being "intolerant of opposing views" is straight up B.S. since YOUR one of the main offenders.

So George, Your the big bad guy again to suggest , or rather saying please to staying home. You are "treading: on their rights, never mid that they have the right to bring the virus to us old folks here. Your just being selfish George. Like you said "You can't fix stupid". I agree with Geirge, but bit as nicely as he put it. Keep your ass home where it belongs.

Sorry, but I pay taxes on my property and I will decide when I travel. I will he arriving this weekend, going to costco, jacks and the liquor store.

9:43....You have a stick up your butt about me, and insist on making pronouncements about my moral character, while pretending to be of superior character. You are a joke, and have no credibility. The "anonymous" tag means you aren't willing to be held accountable for your bogus claims. You 're just another wise ass. I have not had covid, nor has anyone I know. I was tested before admitted to the hospital, so figure it out fool. Pacific County infections have greatly increased since businesses were opened last Summer. Surfside retirees were not the problem.

May be for a new posting George, but looks like the new Business Manager may have a hard time. When she tried for Rainier city administrator she stated she would focus on transparency, and lauded her strengths in managing finances. And do we know why she resigned as the finance director for Port of Ilwaco, then quickly reversed her decision, though she was offered a nice severance package to leave? While with the Port, she consistently reported excessive expenditures to the Board. Will she do that kind of reporting here, or was it part of her leaving there and now she knows how to play the game. I'm assuming with her age, and amount she has previously moved around Washington, Oregon, and Montana, this will be her cushy retirement job and will do as the Board directs her to, not support the membership who is paying her salary.

And there it is, the usual Cox response. Name calling and the "anonymous" rant to try and pivot away from the facts. You never have a problem with the anonymous comments that stroke your ego, do you? For someone who likes to complain about Trump you sure like to use his tactics over and over.

The FACTS again, officials and even George asked back when this started for part timers to stay away and you didn't. That's a fact. I wasn't talking about now so you're the fool for bringing up a not so current covid test.

Your statement about retirees is just your opinion. It might be true of the ones who live here full time and didn't leave the area but you can't say the same of those who didn't and/or had people like you who came to visit. Here's another fact for you to ignore. One of the first covid positive cases in our area was a Surfside resident who did leave the area.

And that she is still listed as CEO of an Environmental company, no conflict of interest I assume if Surfside has any projects like that.

You are a self-righteous poop. You do NOT care about facts, so don't claim your opinion is based on facts. I made it clear that I had come to Surfside during the "Stay home" period, signed my name, and explained how I took precautions to avoid contacts. If it was assurred that all such visitors would take all necessary precautions last MAY, the order would not have been needed. I understood the intent of the order, agreed with the objective and avoided all contacts. The order allowed for individual discretion as to need to travel. I have an investment in my home in Surfside, and it is necessary that it be monitored for maintenance needs, security issues, etc. to assure there are no plumbing or electrical issues, or break-ins. I have been honest and have taken necessary measures to assure the safety of others. You are an unknown entity who may have ignored ALL recommended protocol. You cannot pretend to be in any position to judge ANYONE, while remaining anonymous. You have a personal ax to grind with me, and yes, I proudly pronounce you have NO real purpose but to be an assh*le.

George I was wondering if you knew a reason that the Property on the east side of J has over a hundred lots where trees are exceeding 34'. Is the height limit not enforced on those lots.

Anonymous said...

J placers can’t see the Ocean to the East, they don’t care what’s over there! It’s where the garbage and the horrible RV storage lot is also!

Anonymous said...

No I am talking about the J place lots on the east side of J. It appears that there is no enforcement of the 34' limit. They are the ones complaining and enforcing topping trees at some one else expense. Just thought fair is fair if the have a height limit it should be enforced.

Dale said...

6:55. I was thinking the same. Why can I look up from I St and see all those tall trees? It really blocks my view of the stars 😂. If we have to top our trees then everyone should have to do the same. Also, the lights on J PL are always shinning in my eyes. People. Please shut your curtains, at least that way they won't be as bright and maybe I could see the stars.
I personally don't think we should have any tree policies. As everyone can see, they all die in time after being topped.

Anonymous said...

I know exactly what these last 4 comments are referring to and I also wonder why they do not have to cut their trees to 35 ft. The tree heights follow the building height and always have. So I believe we lowland folks need to start a flood of complaints to the compliance lady regarding the J place overweight trees. They block my morning sunrise and my star gazing at night.
And please keep those curtains closed, those bright lights are over bearing

Anonymous said...

This has been discussed more than once but you still keep coming back with the same bull.

Most of those trees you see east of the houses on J are not on their property so are not subject to the covenants. Those on the west side of J are.

See the sunrise, you mean as it appears over the ridge past 10:00 am? Yeah, that makes sense.

Also, the lighting covenants don't include lights INSIDE of the house so curtains don't mean crap.

Also, there are no weight limits when it comes to trees.

So complain all you want. You have wasted time making this foolish comment so I guess you won't have a problem wasting more of it making invalid complaints.

Anonymous said...

Might want to re-read the covenants on the 35' height, its stated clearly here
2.16 Tree heights shall conform to the same maximum heights as the building
established in Exhibit “A” of the covenants.
2.16a Height limitations of 35’ in Exhibit A do not apply to trees on
applicable lots

I hope all those overweight, overheight tress take a tumble.
