The Generator cover is for the generator located by the Business Office. The present generator has had to be replaced as it burned out. I was told that was due to lack of oil. It probably had less than 100 hours on it. It was reported by passer-bys that it was making a loud noise. Another 5,000.00 wasted.

No mention of how many existing sheds have been sent non-compliance notices due to the BOT's decision to change the covenant regarding sheds, barring any kind of overhang. We know that the Arch Comm. does not send owners violation notices, but this IS Arch. Comm. business, and they should be involved, and in fact, should have prevented this stupid intrusive action by the BOT.
The pretense that the County objects is b.s.. This is another little program of harassment of owners, mostly RV owners, to intimidate and bully owners over stuff that has no negative impact on the community. The HOA is incapable of keeping their own projects compliant with the County, State and Fed, while pushing on with this obnoxious limitation on sheds.
Notice newly elected Treasurer Rudd Turner pronounces "Surfside's debt-free". Seriously ? The Board is living in a make-believe world, ignoring the Federal investigation, not even acknowledging the hundreds of thousands of dollars that it will require to get the Feds, State and County off our back. That also ignores the thousands of dollars of deferred payments and budgeted maintenance that never happened in 2018 as planned.
I think the roof cover is supposed to be the generator cover. Just more of the incompetence that goes on every day. This place needs to go away.
A dumb treasurer who does not know that we are in debt. Sure gives me a lot of confidence in him. He fits right in with the rest. Dumb and dumber.
I doubt he's dumb, but the Board's intent on playing the members for fools, and pretending everything is fine and dandy, while we are in serious trouble with the County, State and Federal regulatory agencies. They can make all kinds of ridiculous claims and point to misleading numbers that are blatantly false or deceptive. Rudd's on board !!
Nobody, certainly a bunch of people here, know what is to come with the investigations. Saying it will be hundreds of thousands of dollars is only pure speculation. When it is done and the penalties if any are known then we can address it. Why would the board acknowledge fines that haven't happened yet.

Self proclaim "experts" get up and criticize the treasurer and/or those that do the budget. Then when the board asks them to attend future budget committee meetings to give their "expertise" they back peddle and give excuses for why they can't. Bottom line, just like here they just want to complain but not step up to work for the community like others do.
Those that step forward are those who work for themselves and not the community. If they did, we wouldn't have the problems we do. The good ones have been run off.

This association is awash in self interest and partisan politics. This will not change until the Board is replaced, in total. The current Board has already done enough damage. If that cannot be accomplished, then dissolution may be the only answer.
5:59....Not paying much attention eh ? Asbestos abatement cost $45,000. $10,000 fine for building in wetland without permit. $27,000 in fines for management failure to train Water Dept. workers, hold safety meetings, improper handling of hazardous materials.
Legal costs associated with the Federal investigation, fines yet to be announced. The building intended to house the new Water Plant has not been constructed (but was budgeted for), the holding pond had to be excavated to remove discarded asbestos pipe buried beneath the pond. The entire Plant may have to be relocated.
The replacement of Carbon material in the new columns was determined to be needed about the first of Nov., and was budgeted for in 2018 - has not been done due to lack of funds - cost is about $60,000.
There is no reason to think that these fines will be reduced, as this failure to manage has been going on for a few years, and there are no doubts that ALL of these issues which the HOA failed to comply with were done so with full awareness of the standards being ignored. That's why there is a criminal investigation going on as well.
Legal costs may soar depending on how long the investigation lasts, EPA fines are yet to come, and we don't know what kind of requirements there may be to provide for future health issues employees may experience due to their unnecessary exposure to asbestos. This is all just factual, so deal with it. This is a big deal that will cost us a great deal of money, and is not just a "misunderstanding".
The BOT has yet to acknowledge any of this to the membership. Their failing - our problem.
The board is only "stack tight" by people who step up and run. Nothing and nobody stopped you or the people who feel like you do from running and getting elected. Problem for you is those people are few in number.
The same B.S. being said about the board now is the same that has been said for the past decade or so. Years back it was the same, people were complaining because the board was filled with J and G street folks. Also back then the same reason why, the only people who cared enough to run happen to live there. But keep on entertaining yourself by using terms like junta, mafia and faction.

Yes, yes...only the foolish and immature object to the incompetence that has led to an EPA criminal investigation, the pissing away of $75,000 on a lawsuit that the BOT then withdrew, the failure to properly permit construction at the Waterworks leading to a "stop-work-order", $10,000 fine and removal of the holding pond, the incomplete building needed to protect the Carbon Treatment Plant, the unfinished maintenance budgeted in 2018, on and on.
We know for a fact that this situation makes past failures look insignificant. Wake up people....this is a serious matter, and Trustees have been implicated in criminal actions, yet the BOT hasn't even acknowledged what has been published in the Chinook Observer and Surfside Chat Blog. The truth came out 3 months ago, and the BOT hasn't said a word.
You must not know when you're getting screwed, and your money wasted, even when it is going on in front of your face. Re-electing the same people has lead to this runaway spending and inability to accept reality.
Let the members decide. Put on the ballot a vote to dissolve. Get it all on an electronic ballot.

Again, committees are not stacked, they are filled with people who choose to donate their time if the like. You must forget that Patrick and George plus others have in the pass voted AGAINST members who have volunteered for a committee. But I'm sure you will excuse them of that.

A committee is supposed to support the board with information so that they can make good decisions. Those that want to influence this board, find a willing partner. They all need to go. They have only made everything worse. No one gives a damn about a shed, as long as it is neat. Worst looking shed is that lemon colored one of Williams on I Street.
Ok 11:29, I agree with you. Saying things over and over does not make it true. That is way when people keep making statements like the board or committees are stacked over and over like it's true I called them out on it. Anyone can run for the board. Anyone can join a committee unless they get voted down, which I mentioned.

This Board is stacked, and stacked carefully. I've been watching for close to two years now, and its obvious. If you can't see it, perhaps you're self interest is blocking the view.
