Included with GM job description...
Below is the cover sheet that is included with the job description for a General Manager.
It looks more like a description for real estate than what the association really is. After I read it, I thought, that's a place I would like to live.
I especially liked the last line which says "Surfside represents affordable beach living within a quiet community in a natural setting" The natural setting looks like a tornado came through and destroyed the trees.

What a load of BS!
The person better read all the governance documents and memorize it all as I as a member am expected to.
The author must be smoking weed or lives in LaLa Land. What a farce. Wait til they meet up w K, Ms Tree Czar or hubby or of course, Master Flub aka Williams. The bliss goes out the window! Miserable humans that make Surfside undesirable to potential buyers.
10:18. I agree, except smoking weed or not has nothing to do with fixing stupid.
It's a reasonable description, not a lie? I like living here, I'm so sorry many of you aren't. Think I'll go smoke a J on my deck now.
11:42. Just because I want change doesn't mean I don't like living here.
I agree with smoking a J, nice work.
Bought my home in 2001 and I still find it laughable that we are referred to as an " Estate ". What images does that wording convey? Certainly not what lies within. Great piece of marketing though ! I'll be right up with a bottle of good Zinfandel. Makes a great pairing with some quality weed. Can I say weed on here ? It is legal after all.
Sorry, my area doesn't look like a tornado came through. Look at your border George with its stumps. That looks like one, not mine.
Surfside Estate? I didn't know I was so uppity. Now I are somebody, because I live on an estate. All the time I thought it was a trailer park. That's what I was told. I thought I was trailer trash. Now I is impotent.
This reads like Mr.Flood is writing this as a job for himself. Interesting huh
I feel the same as you 11:42. And judging by the amount of new homes that have been built and occupied along with how quickly others have sold to new neighbors, many others feel the same. No "destroyed trees" in my area either.
To 7:40. They do have a variety of pills for your condition that may help.
01/17/19 9:51 PM.
There are destroyed trees in my neighbor's yard. A J Place member forced the trees cut down for their view. Clearly a taking of one's property for another's property gain without due compensation.
Sorry, there are no pills to fix you. You need a psychiatrist.
629 - Your statement is a lie and BS. Your just saying this to stir the pot, make it sound like there is total destruction all the time initiated by members that live on J place. Me thinks you are a jealous person who wished they could have a place on J. or prove it, what is the address of your neighbor, I want to go talk with them to get the real truth, which is probably they got tired of cleaning their gutters.
What is your address 7:46? Odds are it is J Place. Your comment is the BS. A drive around surfside should prove to your lie-ing eyes the damage done to trees that have been pruned for a view. 6"29 is "jealous"? Of what? Most of the houses on J Place are nothing better if as good as you will ind in an average neighborhood. Same can be said for G Street. If you want to find "luxurious" homes, they are not in surfside, as the cover letter states, they are all South of surfside. People like 7:46 are nothing more than wanna be snobs that give surfside the bad reputation it has.
I hit a sore spot didn't I 846, but you still didn't answer the questions, cause there is no answer. You are just a ranting pot stirrer. Same old stuff, different post.
BTW, I live on G and don't have any trees, cut them down 'cause I like the sun in the morning and the view of the ridge from my deck.
Bet your place looks kinda bare. A real beach look. No, a surfside look. The view of you looking at the ridge, is probably not the kind of view the J placers like. They would probably prefer a view of trees and not you. If that's the view you got, you ain't got much. As for the answer, I am not the one you questioned. Dumb.
923 - I've got all I need. My house wasn't built to be luxurious, most in SS aren't, but it's nice. I like the way my house looks and the amenities around it, the upkeep is minimal, and honestly, I don't care what my neighbors on the ridge think, but I'm sure they don't even notice. I have a clean and orderly look. But overall, I'll wager I have better overall views of the surrounding area than you do?

Don't ask me for proof. Go find proof yourself. Ask your favorite SHOA committee, the selfish taking of private property for another's private property gain without due compensation Tree Committee.
1011 - Once again, more of the same rhetoric hyperbole that is forever spewing on this site just to stir up the pot. Not working on me.
I told you. Ask the Tree Committee.
If you think the trees look bad in Surfside you should be aware that this look is all due to irresponsible members who do not properly take care of their trees as they agreed to do when they bought their property. Spend your energy encouraging and helping members to care for their trees would do a lot more good than the constant whining and complaining.
The trees look bad because of the complaining J Placers who write the complaints. They and their tree committee are the constant whiners. Tired of your same old whine about not taking care of their trees when they bough their place. The rows of houses on G Street look like they belong in the city. They sure don't look like the beach. Your living in the wrong place.
1256 - oh, our blog curmudgeon is back.
I think G st looks fine. I picked this part of SS because I liked how things looked and the rules fit my life style.
I'm assuming you choose a different area of SS to live because it fit your life style. (Maybe under one of our bridges?) but I won't be making insulting comments about your home or the part of SS you live in, I think every part has it's appeal and charm.
Fyi, complaints n butchering of trees are a relatively recent thing. Who were the new faction that started all this, hmmmmm?. Those butchered trees didnt get that big over night. Long time with no one complaining.
Well said 1:54.
agreed 1:54 hmmmm?
8:46:
Of course there are no "luxurious" homes here. First off the covenants pretty much make it so you can't build one if you wanted to. Plus, who would want to build one in an area that also serves to be a trailer park? Still, there are some pretty nice ones on J. Better maintained too.
As far as bad reputation goes, if anything it is due to the attitude you have shown here.
Get real. Visitors see that the trees are massacred and recognize that the HOA must force owners to comply to an absurd standard. Realtors are obligated to tell prospective buyers that the community is in big trouble with the County, State and Federal EPA. Impending fines show poor community management, and huge fines take funds away from maintenance and new projects.
The HOA has brought suit against yet another owner over tree heights, filing in Superior Court at great expense, has a new Water Plant that has no surrounding structure, and has been out of compliance with the State for several years, due to poor water quality. Now why does Surfside have a bad reputation ?
9:14 AM - you've got to start coming up with something different. I've lived here for nearly 15yrs, have many visitors all the time, most usually go out looking for a place to buy of their own here, none have ever mentioned the cut trees.
I bring visitors, they love where i live, then we head to beach and they say, WHAT THE .......? And laugh, laugh, laugh.
I have told everyone I know about this incompetent, allegedly illegal, unfair, anti-member, anti-safety, anti-regulation, and inequitable lawsuit against member hoa.
Nice try there 6:29. No need of a psychiatrist here. Living at the beach is all the therapy that I need. But since you made the recommendation let me return the favor concerning your anger management issues. Maybe step away from the keyboard for a couple days and take a walk on the beach. better yet, take a trip up to J and enjoy the view.
Your claim that a J place member forced someone to cut their trees down is inaccurate. If the person had taking care of them and not let them get above the height limits like the majority do there wouldn't have been a complaint.
To 9:14: The suit is for the fines amassed because the member refused to trim their trees in response to a valid complaint over a long time period. And BTW, the people making the complaint offered to do the cutting and they still refused.
Throw in a home on J Place as part of the package and I'm your guy.
Sorry 12:37, no can do. You'll just have to buy one like the rest of us. But you will have to be quick. When one comes on the market it usually goes fast.
Drive the length of j, i see empty new construction, aging.
cheap spec homes built on the cheap on property sold cheap. Let the buyer beware. You see only a few new homes being built by those who really want to move here and build a better quality home. Buyers remorse will set in for them.
